Ulm/Germany, 15 December 2021 – For the first time, sensor solutions specialist HENSOLDT has taken part in the "Das hat Potenzial!" “That has potential”!) competition organised by the nationwide SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT network - and directly secured 1st place in the "SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT-Starter" category.

HENSOLDT was able to prevail over the competition thanks to its committed, targeted support of trainees and dual students as well as its comprehensive support in the professional orientation of pupils. The competition is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and was held for the tenth time this year. The digital award ceremony with Parliamentary State Secretary Thomas Bareiß took place at the beginning of December.

"Especially the transition from school or university to the working world often means a big change and also a challenge for young people," says Peter Fieser, HR Director at HENSOLDT. "In order to give the freshly graduated HENSOLDTians the best possible start to their careers, we rely on specially developed personnel development models such as 'Start, Go and Run for future'. In these activities, the trainees get to know each other and the company and its values, sometimes in workshops lasting several days, with the help of targeted experiential education." During the apprenticeship or the dual study programme, HENSOLDT actively supports stays abroad, for example at the company locations in England or South Africa, as well as cross-location departmental rotations. Currently, approximately 200 young people are completing an apprenticeship or dual study programme at HENSOLDT.

"After successful completion, all young HENSOLDTians receive a permanent employment contract," says training manager Werner Stockburger. "In order to ensure a smooth transfer to the area of the company that best suits the interests and skills of the trainees, they gain extensive insights into a wide variety of areas during their training and have the choice between a wide range of further training and development opportunities," adds Stockburger.

As a technology pioneer, HENSOLDT is also particularly interested in promoting young talent in STEM professions and therefore works, among other things, with a large number of kindergartens and primary schools to introduce girls in particular to technology at an early age. In addition, the company maintains educational partnerships with secondary schools and girls' schools and uses HENSOLDT training ambassadors. In addition, the company organises career guidance and technology days as well as Girls' and Boys' Day and conducts technology lessons together with schools.
