Immenstaad, 13 November 2020 – HENSOLDT and its subsidiary EUROAVONICS in Pforzheim have entered into a close cooperation with SPAES GmbH & Co.KG from Karlsruhe. The company is an equipment and engineering service provider for aircraft, especially helicopters and jets.

With the new distribution partnership with SPAES, HENSOLDT takes a further step to expand its network in the civil avionics market and thus to become a renowned player in the civil aviation business. Already in 2017, with the strategic acquisition of EuroAvionics and its products, the avionics portfolio was expanded and at the same time an access to the civil aviation market was created.

SPAES is an owner-managed, independent company with Europe-wide access and a network of civil aviation companies and maintenance organisations. The company is a specialist in the development and certification of devices, own products and systems as well as their integration and certification in aircraft.

As an EASA Part 21J design organisation, SPAES will certify the HENSOLDT SferiRec Lightweight Crash Recorder for various aircraft and distribute it with the installation kits developed by SPAES.

The SferiRec LCR is the perfect solution for aircraft to meet the new EU regulation 2019/1387, which requires that all aircraft with turbine engines over 2.25 tons, which includes small and light aircraft, must carry a flight recorder that complies with the ED-155 directive from 2022 onwards.  The SferiRec LCR, with capture and recording functions for sound, flight data and video in one housing and weighing just 1 kg, is the right answer to these requirements.

After all, it is precisely the low weight that is decisive. The LCR is the lightest flight recorder currently available on the market, and weight and size is of great importance for light aircraft in order to keep consumption and operating costs low.

The company SPAES will represent HENSOLDT in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They are the right partner for the integration and certification of HENSOLDT's avionics portfolio into the respective aircraft.
