  • Principal FPGA Design Engineer Engineering

    HENSOLDT UK is looking for a proactive Principal FPGA Engineer to join our growing team to play an active role in developing our exciting new generation of Radar Sensor products.  The successful candidate will work both individually and within small teams to conceive and deliver innovative solutions to challenging problems.

    The successful candidate will use Xilinx Vivado, ISE, VHDL, Modelsim tools to develop high-speed SoC FPGA designs operating over multiple clock domains with several high-speed board-to-board interfaces.

    The Principal FPGA Design Engineer tasks include:

    • Working with a broad range of functionality from Ethernet, DDR, Aurora, and DSP/Filters.
    • High-speed DSP to extract targets of interest from a complex background of radar returns, including functions to enhance the target detection and clutter rejection.
    • Development to bring up the FPGA/board and interfacing to peripherals.
    • Control of hardware to transmit and receive RF transmissions.
    • Decomposition of top-level system or product requirements into an implementable FPGA architecture.
    • Employing strong design lifecycle from initial concept, through requirements and design reviews onto implementation and testing leading to in-service use and support.
    • Be the technical lead for exciting projects.
    • Work closely with other engineering disciplines (such as Embedded Software Engineers, R&D, and Systems) to deliver successful product solutions.
    • Use high-quality test strategies to giving coverage for design proving, development regression testing, and system manufacture test.
    • Take part in design and code Peer Reviews.
    • Support teammates and give mentoring to junior members of the team.


    Required skills:

    • VHDL
    • High-speed timing closure
    • Problem-solving
    • 10 or more years’ experience working on FPGA designs
    • Proven track record of producing designs on time and within budget


    Desirable skills:
    Xilinx Vivado/ISE, tcl, Verilog. Experience with git, Bitbucket (or similar), CI, embedded software & Linux, bench test equipment experience.

  • Senior FPGA Design Engineers Engineering

  • Principal Embedded Software Engineer Engineering

    The Principal Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for the decomposition of top-level system or product requirements into an implementable software architecture.

    The Principal Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for software developments from preliminary specification to verified design running on the target hardware.

    The Principal Embedded Software Engineer provides expert knowledge of software design, test and certification.  The Principal Embedded Software Engineer will also, in conjunction with the Software Engineering Manager, provide coaching, leadership and guidance to other Design Engineers. 

  • Senior Systems Engineer Systems

    A Senior Systems Engineer is required within the Naval & Surveilance business to develop and deliver Company and Customer Funded systems projects based upon HENSOLDT UK state of the art radar technology. Activities will include all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle from System Concept through to Delivery and Acceptance, including Bid Support, System Design and System Integration.

    Applicants are required to be flexible in their approach to work, as every project and support issue presents different challenges. Applicants must also possess an aptitude for problem solving and have an eye for detail.

  • Commercial Manager Bid Support

    The role will require a broad range of interaction, with both internal (HENSOLDT UK and HENSOLDT Group) and external stakeholders, and will encompass the provision of guidance, assistance, technical (contractual & regulatory) and commercial inputs (including development of the pricing model), bids and negotiation support, in respect to all aspects of the operations of HENSOLDT UK.

    The post holder will be responsible for implementation of, and compliance with, relevant HENSOLDT group policies, in particular those relating to Risk Management procedures.

    The role of the Commercial function is to support the achievement of the bid’s financial/strategic objectives, to ensure compliance with ethical and contractual undertakings and to ensure the commercial integrity of commitments being made on behalf of the company.

    The Commercial Manager will need to be flexible enough to visit other sites, including other HENSOLDT sites, customers and suppliers, both in the UK and internationally if required.

  • Service Engineers CMS Operations

    To provide service at any time as directed by the work requirement on any HENSOLDT UK manufactured or factored products and to be prepared to travel at very short notice as directed by the management to provide service or installation to our products both overseas and in the Netherlands.

  • Compliance Officer Commercial Affairs

    The role will encompass a broad range of interactions, with both internal and external stakeholders, and will encompass, in conjunction with the Trade Compliance Manager and the Head of Commercial, the provision of guidance, assistance, technical (contractual & regulatory) and commercial inputs in respect to all aspects of the operations of the HENSOLDT Group, across all locations. The post holder will provide practical assistance to the Trade Compliance Manager and Director of Commercial Affairs.

  • Planner Programmes & Planning

    The Planner will be involved in both the material and operational planning for the manufacturing üutput and also the labour planning for the delivery of the project/programmes.

    Scheduling raw materials demand through MRP to meet targeted stock levels and finished goods production programmes.  To plan production tasks to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time and in full to meet customer expectations. Liaise with key stakeholder departments including: Logistics, Sales, Customer Services, Engineering and Finance to ensure achievement of declared forecasts and project programmes.

    Undertake resource planning in accordance with the resource management systems undertaking first line conflict resolutions with the programme/project managers and the executing departments.
