SharpEye™

HENSOLDT UK’s Kelvin Hughes SharpEye™ radars set the international standard in solid-state radar sensor technology. Used by commercial customers and defence agencies, SharpEye™ radars deliver class-leading performance, offering tactical and situational awareness supported by innovative radar display software – through a system fully compliant to the latest International Maritime Organisation (IMO) performance standards.

SharpEye™ provides unrivalled coverage, even in the toughest of conditions. Able to detect the smallest targets on land and at sea, and at greater ranges than conventional magnetron based radars, today more than 30 navies and coastguard agencies around the world are benefiting from this comprehensive and innovative solution.

SharpEye™

Navigational crew are able to visualise land, air and seaborne targets – unique to SharpEye™ – thanks to low Radar Cross Section (RCS) and advanced doppler processing capabilities. Together clutter is removed giving significantly improved visibility without reducing picture quality, providing superior situational awareness at all times.

SharpEye™ also helps reduce maintenance costs through the lifecycle of the unit, as well as significantly cutting down on training requirements thanks to its simple and easy to use design. The Type Approved multifunction sensor, designed to meet MIL-STDs, can be configured to address the unique needs of those using it.

Carbon Fibre Turning Unit & Housing

Through an innovative carbon fibre housing and turning unit, SharpEye™ has redefined the method of deployment of a naval radar transceivers and antennas. A direct drive motor eliminates the need for a gearbox, significantly reducing installation and maintenance costs whilst providing unparalleled reliability.

Antenna Systems

Patented antennas deliver a low profile design, 2.5m (I-Band/X-Band) and 3.9m (E/F-Band/S-Band).

Naval Tactical Radar Display

SharpEye™‘s innovative display and tactical functionality utilises Enhanced Target Detection (ETD), twin Plan Position Indicator (PPI) and an intuitive Human Machine Interface  HMI all compliant the latest International Maritime Organisation (IMO) radar performance standards.

The display can be accessed through a 24" and 26" LED widescreen all with console, desktop and pedestal mounting options.

Type Approved to MSC192/79 / IEC 62388 Edition 2 standards, the integrated radar display is part of a fully networked system providing enhanced collision avoidance and situational awareness features such as Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA), chart radar, dual PPI, collision warning and ETD modes.

The easy to use and intuitive software package offers on screen prompts to assist the user through multifunction display; this also enables the sharing of information across workstations. Displays are easy to operate through a tracker ball and keyboard.

SharpEye™ provides operators with enhanced naval functions supporting:

  • Manual rate aided tracks facility (MRATS) and synthetic target generation
  • Operator track labelling and target identification (‘Friend’, ‘Foe’, ‘Neutral’, ‘Unknown’)
  • Sector transmission / single scan
  • Sector screens
  • Electronic Support Measures (ESM) bearings
  • Anti-submarine warfare
  • NAVPLANS / blind pilotage
  • Helo approach path
