Enfield, 13 July 2023 – HENSOLDT UK is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) by the British Ministry of Defence. This governmental recognition is a testament to HENSOLDT UK's commitment to supporting the armed forces community and its dedication to providing exceptional employment opportunities and support to military veterans, reservists, and their families.

Currently employing 17 veterans, with a workforce of 160, the company makes specific provision within its employment policies to ensure that all the training and support is given to enable ex-forces personnel to make a successful transition and utilise their skills to meet the company’s needs. Additionally, reservists and cadet instructors are given 10 extra paid days of leave to deploy and attend training camps.

Peter Dillon, Managing Director of HENSOLDT UK, said: "We are extremely honoured and proud to have been awarded the ERS Gold Award. At HENSOLDT UK, we deeply value the skills, dedication, and unique perspectives that military veterans, reservists, and their families bring to our organisation. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering the armed forces community."

He further added: "As a defence company, we recognise the sacrifices made by our armed forces, and we are committed to providing a supportive environment for all individuals transitioning into civilian life. This award motivates us to continue fostering a culture of diversity, inclusivity, and ongoing support for the armed forces community. HENSOLDT UK has also chosen SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, as our corporate charity, further extending our aid to those in and around the armed forces.”

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, the highest badge of honour, recognises the positive role that employers play in supporting the Armed Forces community. This award signifies HENSOLDT UK's exemplary practices in areas such as employing veterans and reservists, providing flexible working arrangements, and promoting the armed forces within and outside the organisation.

Kristina Carrington, Regional Employer Engagement Director on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, added “After working with HENSOLDT UK for many years and witnessing their support for the Armed Forces Community grow it’s really great to be able to celebrate their success at achieving the Gold Award.”
